Agniveers to be considered for appointment – WeezerSongs

As protests continue throughout the country about the Agnipath scheme the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur announced on Saturday that once retired from service Agniveers would be considered for appointments as physical education instructors in schools.

According to ANI, The Union Minister told ANI that once the youngsters leave their military service after nearly four years, special instruction will be given to “Agniveers” who would like to become physical education instructors.

“To offer a few classes for beginners and provide instruction to those who wish to become teachers of physical education.. 15, 000 physical education teacher positions are unfilled across various states. We’re considering this also,” Thakur stated.

In the meantime, he appealed to youth who have been opposing the Agnipath Scheme not to indulge in violence. He also said the government is “seriously listening to their concerns”.

“I urge young people to realize to not use violence as the best way to live. The government is paying attention to what you have to say. They are listening. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is also considering making a plan to help them come to the end of four years of service.”

The Union Cabinet on June 14 approved a scheme to recruit Indian young people to be part of the three branches that comprise the Armed Forces called Agnipath and the youngsters selected as part of this program will be called Agniveers.

Agnipath provides patriotic and motivated youngsters to join the Armed Forces for four years. The Agnipath Scheme was created to create a youthful image for members of the Armed Forces.

In the most recent announcement made by the Ministry of Justice, the age threshold for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) including Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), National Security Guard (NSG) and Special Protection Group (SPG) which will be 26 years old.

In addition, the initial batch of Agniveers will benefit from an additional 5 years over the age of 23 years, bringing it up to 28 years old.
