Neeraj Chopra won gold in javelin throw during the Kuortane Games in Finland’s Turku on Saturday, with a throw of 86.69 metres.
Chopra’s throw was strong enough to outmatch the attempts made by his rivals, including former world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada and renowned javelin thrower Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad & Tobago.
Chopra’s very first throw of the day, which touched 86.69m, was enough for him to secure his very first win after this gold medal winning night in Tokyo Olympics.
On Tuesday, on his much-anticipated return to international competition, in Turku, Chopra came up with an effort of 89.30m, thus bettering his own national record by more than a metre.
